Treatment with antimycotic substances

Nystatin is a lipid-based polyene antifungal agent. It can be either added to the NGM agar prior to pouring plates or if needed only rarely it can be sprayed onto seeded plates.

To make a sprayable Nystatin solution:

• make a 20 mg/ml stock solution in water (this is more of a emulsion rather then a solution because Nystatin is highly lipophilic)
• add 100 µl of the stock to 10 ml PBS and fill into small sprayer bottle
• shake well before use and keep in the fridge
• use up within a week
