Bleaching worms

Bleaching methods are esentially as for C. elegans. Large numbers of worms can be synchronized by bleaching with NaOH / Clorix mixtures. For small scale bleaching just put a drop of bleaching solution on a seeded NGM agar plate outside of the bacterial lawn and pick a couple of gravid hermaphrodites from the contaminated plate directly into the drop of bleaching solution. Only embryos inside the eggshell will survive this procedure and will eventually crawl into the food. Be careful with weak or Unc mutants. It has happened that they do not survive this "on-plate" bleaching.
