Comparative Connectomics in the Nematode Pharynx

P. pacificus and C. elegans Synaptic Connectivity Browser

connectivity matrices: [download]

These graph visualizations represent the connectivity data produced using serial thin section transmission electron microscopy for a study comparing the “connectomes” of the pharyngeal nervous systems of two different nematode species: Pristionchus pacificus and Caenorhabditis elegans. For more context, check out the original manuscript: Bumbarger et al., 2013. Cell 152:109-119 . Wormatlas.org has excellent descriptions for individual pharynx neurons, which are represented as nodes in our diagrams. Openconnecto.me has been generous enough to host our original image stacks, so check out their website if you want a better understanding for where the connectivity matrix comes from.
